Denver has finally got its season’s first snowfall on Friday. This snowfall broke 87-year-old record, as Denver had witnessed its last snowfall 87 years ago.
According to meteorologist Jim Kalina, the Denver International Airport was covered with three-tenths of an inch snow. Before this snowfall, the city has last seen snowfall on November 21, 1934.
Experts have explained that Denver region is experiencing extended La Nina weather patterns. La Nina is responsible for producing drier weather in the region. Experts also think human caused climate change is the only reason behind this.
U.S. West is also experiencing megadrought this season and scientists think that La Nina is responsible for this weather too.
Climate scientists and meteorologists think that prolonged drought and lack of snow will drastically harm water supply and agriculture throughout the whole country.
The Salt Lake City in Utah was snowless since November. This is the second time since the year 1976 that this region went snowless. The city was hit by a snowstorm this week.
