Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin is all set to take its third private crew to space. Its third private crew includes the daughter of the first American astronaut. The spaceflight will be of 11 minutes, as per astronauts. It will be launched from the company’s base in Texas. This base is situated just beyond the internationally-recognized boundary of space. The base is also 100 kilometres high.
The six-crew member will unbuckle themselves after reaching and they will enjoy a few minutes’ weightlessness in space. After this, the spaceship will return to Earth. The crew members will launch by a parachute in the desert.
The launch date of the spaceship has been delayed because of high winds. But now, finally the date has been finalized on 8:45 am local time on Saturday.
Laura Shepard Churchley is one of the six crew members in the spaceship. Laura Shepard is the daughter of Alan Shepard, who was the first American to travel in space in 1961. Laura Shepard will be a special guest in Blue Origin’s spaceship.
Blue Origin has named its new spaceship as “New Shepard” in honour of the pioneering astronaut.
TV personality, Michael Strahan will also be a guest in this spaceship.
Alan Shepard was on space for 15-minutes on May 5, 1961. Shepard was on space after one month of Soviet Union’s Yuri Gagarin became the first human to walk on space.
Shepard died in 1998 and he was fifth of twelve men to have walk on space.
Blue Origin’s flight has already taken the company’s billionaire founder Bezos into space.
