Atmospheric rivers may hasten Australian Alps snow melt

University of Queensland researchers found that Australian Alps is going to suffer from a loss of snow and the surrounding area is going to be flooded as a result of climate change. This phenomenon is known as “atmospheric rivers” to scientists. This phenomenon will also affect Australia’s alpine wilderness.

Though these “atmospheric rivers” help the environment by bringing rainfall and dismissing droughts, but their increasing unpredictability is threatening hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth infrastructure all around the globe.

As global warming is growing in a faster rate, snow-covered areas in Australia will take on a different complexion by 2050.
